This is a weekly Wednesday feature hosted by ITSAREADINGTHING – every Wednesday, select the book/s you’re currently reading and answer three questions about each.
What Are You Reading Wednesday #4
1. What’s the name of your current read?
2. Go to page 34 in your book or 34% in your eBook and share a couple of sentences.
3. Would you like to live in the world that exists within your book? Why or why not?
THE DARKEST PART OF THE FOREST by Holly Black
QUOTE “What had she been thinking, kissing him? Just because she’d had a crush on him when they were kids? Just because she’d wanted to?”
WOULD YOU LIVE IN THIS WORLD? Perhaps. The magic seems risky but there are ways of avoiding it, so long as you’re not a tourist and remember the rules.
AND I DARKEN by Kiersten White
QUOTE “Lada lay on her back, staring at the leafy branches overhead, boughs laced together so tightly everything was filtered through vibrant green.”
WOULD YOU LIVE IN THIS WORLD? Definitely not. Do I need to explain why? This world is brutal and terrible and I wouldn’t last five minutes.
THE KNIFE OF NEVER LETTING GO (CHAOS WALKING #1) by Patrick Ness
QUOTE “That’s the story from the Noise anyway so who knows what it was actually like before? Cuz then of course I was born and everything changed.”
WOULD YOU LIVE IN THIS WORLD? Would I really exist? Regardless, no. In this world, all women were killed out and everyone can hear each others ‘noise’ – each others thoughts. Even animals can be heard by humans. Most importantly I would find it impossible to read, and a world without reading isn’t a world I want to live in.
